Filtration

My Sediment Filter Plugs Up with Sand and Silt Very Quickly

To solve this problem, you have two options. First, you can install a second traditional sediment filter. This could possibly be a larger “giant” filter housing with a course (higher 25 or 50 micron) sediment filter cartridge in line before the finishing filter (5 or 10 micron). This would take some dirt load off the finishing filter.

However, a better solution, if the sediment load in the water is excessively high, is to install a sand separator filter with a 316 SS mesh screen. These SPIN-OUT sand filters can be purged (cleaned) and re-used reducing filtration costs. This option would effectively reduce the dirt load on the traditional filter with either a string wound, pleated or spun poly depth type filter cartridge.
