What is the plastic flange that was shipped with my wall hydrant for?

The plastic wedge is very important to ensure the hydrant is installed with the correct pitch to ensure the faucet tube drains completely!

The wedge is installed between the wall and the wall hydrant flange with the thick side up (opening to the ground). When the faucet is lagged securely to the wall this gives the hydrant the proper angle.
