Hose

Is the Clear PVC Braided Hose and PVC Clear Tubing certified for food and drinking water applications?

Yes! The manufacturer of our PVC Clear Braided Hose and PVC Clear Tubing has recently invested in the certification of these products to meet both NSF/ANSI 51 and NSF/ANSI 61 Standard Certifications for Food and Drinking (Potable) Water.

To avoid any confusion, we have created new part numbers which better reflect the PW (potable water certification), and the certified product will be sold under these new numbers. The new part numbers ensure that when you order the certified product, it will have the NSF-61 and NSF-51 certification markings printed directly on the hose or tubing, as detailed below. This allows installers and inspectors to easily verify the certification. The product data sheets can be found on our website in the literature library https://boshart.com/literature/technical-sheets/ (Section No. 3)

PWH Series (Potable Water Hose) replaces the former 107 Series Braided PVC Hose.

PWT Series (Potable Water Tubing) replaces the former 106 Series PVC Tubing.

About NSF/ANSI 51 and NSF/ANSI 61

NSF/ANSI 51 - Food Equipment Materials: This publication was recently revised to bring the standard in alignment with the final rule requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Safe Drinking Water Act regarding the use of lead-free pipes, fittings, fixtures, solder, and flux for drinking water. The national requirements for lead in drinking water have evolved at different points in time. NSF/ANSI 51 has also followed each federal requirement change to ensure that materials used in the construction of commercial food equipment that may have contact with water, coffee, or tea intended for human consumption continue to align with federal requirements.

NSF/ANSI 61 - Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects: This is an American National Standard that establishes minimum health-effects requirements for the chemical contaminants and impurities that are indirectly imparted to drinking water from products, components and materials used in drinking water systems. This standard does not establish performance, taste and odor, or microbial growth support requirements for drinking water system products, components, or materials.
