      Pressurized Pitless Adapters are used in installations where the Well Construction Code requires a pressurized point of attachment. This requirement may be found in the states of Illinois and Michigan.

      The difference between a “normal” Pitless Adapter and a “Pressurized" Pitless Adapter is that a small hole is drilled in the slide, positioned between the internal and external rubber gasket seals. It allows water in the small cavity created by the well casing and the rubber gaskets. This feature is utilized to maintain positive pressure at the seal as shown in the diagram.
