13YH-RSS-XXX 3/8” Diameter Stainless Steel Connecting Rod Replacement
In the event you need to replace the connecting rod which connects the operating rod and coupling to the plunger, you will need to determine the length of the rod you need. If you know the bury depth of the hydrant from your installation records, you’re all set. If you do not have this info, no worries you can measure it easily as shown in the diagram below. The length of the connecting rod is the measurement between the hex coupling and the plunger + 1".
The rod will be threaded 1/2" into the coupling and the plunger!

NOTE! - It is extremely rare that you would need to replace a valve body or the standpipe. If you find either of these need replacement, it is likely after many years of service, and we would suggest that the entire hydrant be replaced at this point. In the event your soil or water conditions are causing accelerated corrosion on a galvanized standpipe or zinc plated steel connecting rod (YHBR series), a YHSS series hydrant should be installed to increase the life expectancy of the hydrant.
