What is the temperature rating of P.T.F.E. thread seal tape?

P.T.F.E. thread seal tapes can withstand extreme temperatures. We carry tapes with two different temperature ranges as detailed below. The first group has a temperature range of -310°F to 536°F (-190°C to 280°C) and the second group of specialty PTFE tapes have a temperature range of -450°F to 550°F (-268°C to 288°C).

P.T.F.E. THREAD SEAL TAPE

Thread seal tape can be used for potable & non-potable water, most chemicals, oxygen, gas, hydraulic and high-pressure lines. The temperature range is -310°F to 536°F (-190°C to 280°C). The thickness specification is to MIL-T-27730A.

SPECIALTY P.T.F.E. THREAD SEAL TAPE

Specialty thread seal tape is thicker than regular PTFE tapes with a higher density. The temperature range is -450°F to 550°F (-268°C to 288°C). The thickness specification is to MIL-T-27730A.

They are color coded for specific applications.

Part No. TT260-GAS (Yellow)

Yellow gas line thread seal tape is for all types of gas lines including natural gas, propane, and butane lines. This tape meets gas company standards worldwide. Size: ½” x 260”, thickness 0.004” (4 mils).

Part No. TT260-OXY (Green)

Green oxygen thread seal tape is for all oxygen applications and is grease free. This tape will not support combustion. Size: ½” x 260”, thickness 0.004” (4 mils).

Part No. TT260-PHD (White)

White premium thread seal tape is for all industrial applications including water, oil, chemical, medical, and food processing where non-contamination standards are high. This tape does not include pigments or additives. Size: ½” x 260”, thickness 0.0035” (3.5 mils).

Part No. TT260-PP (Pink)

Pink plumbers thread seal tape is for plumbers and pipe fitters and is heavier than the standard white thread seal tape. Size: ½” x 260”, thickness 0.004” (4 mils).

Part No. TT260-SS (Grey)

Gray stainless steel thread seal tape is for all stainless-steel fittings and is thicker with a higher density for coarse stainless-steel threads. It has nickel pigment color added and prevents galling, seizing, and corrosion. Size: ½” x 260”, thickness 0.004” (4 mils).
