What is the pressure rating of Galvanized, Red Brass and Stainless Steel Insert Fittings for Polyethylene (PE) Plastic Pipe?
Metal insert fittings are not pressure rated, all metal insert fittings whether cast or swagged and manufactured from Galvanized (Zinc Plated) Steel, Red Brass or Stainless Steel will withstand working pressures more than 3 to 4 times the Maximum Pressure Rating of the Polyethylene (PE) plastic pipe manufactured to ASTM-D2104 and ASTM-D2239 which they are used with.
The Polyethylene (PE) plastic pipe pressure rating will be the limiting factor for the systems operating pressure. Always refer to the pressure rating published by the pipe manufacturer.
For example, PE pipe is typically rated at 75 PSI, 100PSI, 160 PSI and 200 PSI. The metal insert fittings will withstand hydro static burst pressures more than 800 PSI.
