What is meant by cut-in and cut-out settings?
The cut-in and cut-out settings of a pressure switch are the PSI settings at which the switch starts and stops the pump.
Cut-In: a.k.a. “Reset Point” (falling pressure)
- snap-action closes the contacts (completes the electrical circuit) and the pump starts
Cut-Out: a.k.a. “Trip Point” (rising pressure)
- snap-action opens the contacts (breaks the electrical circuit) and the pump stops
